Bombay Gothic
Guidebooks
The Gothic Revival style of architecture was creatively adapted to local conditions in Bombay in the nineteenth century. Renowned architects and theorists helped the then Governor Frere in realising his vision for Bombay as India’s first city.
In Bombay Gothic, Christopher W London traces the evolution of the city’s distinctive architectural style, illustrated vividly with vibrant photographs, rare archival material and drawing realistic visual comparisons with contemporary and medieval European styles of architecture.
