Tony Korner
Tony Korner was born in London and educated at Harrow School and Cambridge University; he qualified as a chartered accountant in 1965 and worked in investment banking in London, Paris, Frankfurt, and New York. He moved to New York in 1975.
From 1979–2022, he was Publisher of Artforum Magazine. Under his leadership, Artforum grew into the art world’s most respected and well-read magazine of independent art criticism, chronicling the evolution of the contemporary art market at a time of tremendous change and growth. In December 2022, Artforum was acquired by Penske Media Corporation. Following the acquisition, Tony retired but continues his connection to the magazine in an ambassadorial role.
In addition to art publishing, Tony is interested in Indian miniatures and antiquities, music, cinema, textiles, gardening, and travel (mainly in India); he is also proud to have directed the documentary film Helen, Queen of the Nautch Girls (1972) with Merchant Ivory Productions.
